The Royal School, set in extensive grounds within walking distance of the beautiful world heritage of Bath, has been educating girls for over 130 years. Academic excellence is highly valued but each girl is encouraged to develop a full and rounded personality, to enjoy happy relationships, creative leisure and to be equipped for a full life with family and friends.
To capitalise on our previous success and strengthen our provision of single sex education for girls, The Royal School has joined the Girls' Public Day School Trust (GPDST) and will be merging with Bath High School in September 1998, to create a super new school, which will be called The Royal High School, Bath. Bath High School, which is located just a few hundred yards down the hill from The Royal School, has an excellent academic record being the top performing school in Bath in the National League Tables. The Senior department of the new school will be based on The Royal School campus and the junior department at Bath High School. A programme of redevelopment will take place and will include a new Sports Hall, new Science laboratories and the updating of Creative Arts facilities on the senior site. On the junior site there will be an unprecedented range of specialist facilities including arts, science and sports. High quality boarding will be at the heart of the new school and the additional facilities will enable us to offer our pupils a more enriching education through an increased curriculum and greater opportunities in music, drama, sport as well as in other extra-curricular areas.
